Wrapping the Month: July

What's greater way to start new month than taking a look at previous one?

Blogging was left on a bit side burner in July - I had more shifts at work and a short holiday that I dedicated for my family. I still managed to get some posts and reviews up, although I'm so behind on reviews that it's not even funny anymore. I hope to rectify that in August, especially since it's confirmed now that I got a place in a postgraduate course in university. It starts next month and I bet it's going to be intense and time consuming, particularly combined with part-time work. Hopefully I manage to get ahead on blogging in August!

It seems I continued with the excessive monthly hauls, but I can't help myself - there's so many good books coming out and I'm constantly finding intriguing books. Let me tell you, working in a bookshop is great, but it increases book hauls like no other. I was also blessed by the eARC gods since I got five that I've been highly anticipating.

July's reviews:
Where There’s Smoke (4 stars)
Long Shadows (3 stars)
The Bad Luck Lighthouse (4 stars)
Undue Influence (4 stars)

I read nine books in July, which is amazing! It was a good reading month overall, I either loved or liked a lot everything I read so there wasn't any disappointments.

I hope to read lots during August, because I'll start Masters programme next month and that, along with work, will downsize my reading and blogging time a lot on the upcoming months.

Hugs,
Henna

Wrapping the Month: June

What's greater way to start new month than taking a look at previous one?

June got surprisingly busy. I got a lot of extra shifts at work without a lot of notice and then I spend a lot of time filling postgraduate applications for universities. I attended a few book events - just to say, Markus Zusak is entertaining, funny and such a nice person. I blogged some and read quite a lot, although it started slowly since I'm reading longer books that take much more time so I'm not finishing books fast.

I went a little crazy and didn't even notice until I gathered the books for the picture. I got four eARCs and then all of these: the ones upright are reading copies that I got free through work and everything else I bought to myself.

Mr Kiss and Tell (5 stars)

I read six books in June and I am currently in the middle of two others that I spend most of the month reading because they are big books. It was a good month for LGBT romance and Veronica Mars binge.

July's for work, short holiday and lots of reading (hopefully at least, since there's so many books I need to read).

Hugs,
Henna

Wrapping the Month: May

What's greater way to start new month than taking a look at previous one?

For once, I'm happy that I got plenty of blogging done, mostly during the last half of the month after I finished the semester. I got plenty of different posts up and a decent number of reviews - and I even got ahead! There's posts scheduled for June already and I aim to keep up with the good pace and hopefully catch up with reviews that need to be done.

I got three eARCs besides these beauties.

I'm happy with six books read, even if I aimed for more. I DNF'd three books and I'm currently in the middle of few longer books, which I'll hopefully finish in June. Anyway, here's the books I finished in May.

DNF'd

Holidays are here, so I should have all the time for reading and blogging - well, when I'm not at work.

Henna

Wrapping the Month: April

What's greater way to start new month than taking a look at previous one?

Another month passed where I didn't blog much. Then again, I was either at work or at home writing/editing my dissertation and several essays. Truthfully I'm exhausted. It should get better next month as the semester ends and I'll finally have time to sleep and relax properly. So bear with me a little while longer!

Few proof copies, fantasy and plenty of history books this month. Amazon also had some amazing freebies so I got quite a selection of ebooks.

April's reviews:
The Steel Prince, Vol. 1 (4 stars)
Boot (4 stars)
Renegades (5 stars)
The Fox and the Star (5 stars)

It seems I read more when I'm extremely stressed about uni and dissertation. I read five novels (three with over 400 pages!) and three graphic novels. It's been a while since I read eight books a month!

First two weeks of May are going to be extremely stressful and I'll count it as a win if I don't have a meltdown. After that I'm done with my dissertation, exams and assignments. Then it's going to be summer holidays, which I'm dedicating to reading and relaxation!

Hugs,
Henna

Wrapping the Month: March

What's greater way to start new month than taking a look at previous one?

Work and university kept me busy throughout March. If I was not studying or at work, I did read quite a bit. I randomly picked up The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic and oh boy, did I devour the whole All for the Game trilogy - within a week. I'm obsessed! I have a bit difficulty to turn my feelings into sensible reviews, but I'll try to do that in April. I didn't blog as much as I planned, but I'm satisfied enough; I wrote some reviews, participated few blitzes and tours, and such.

I might have gone with a little overboard with proof copies, getting four middle grade proofs from work and then few eARCs. And I also had to get all Schwab's new releases as she's one of my favourite authors.

March's reviews:
Prince of Air and Darkness (4 stars)
A Ferry of Bones & Gold (5 stars)
Star Collector Vol. 1 (4 stars)
All Souls Near & Nigh (5 stars)

I'm extremely happy that I read seven books - more so with what I read. I devoured Sakavic's trilogy and was enchanted by the Soulbound books. Everything was either five or four star read - it can't get better than that!

April's going to be stressful, because of university. I've plenty of assignment and a dissertation to finish. Hopefully I'll be able to do other things too, namely keep up with the blog! I will participate on Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon, so there'll posts about that in April.

Hugs,
Henna

Wrapping the Month: February

What's greater way to start new month than taking a look at previous one?

February was exhausting. I got into routine where I study the weekdays and work weekends, which means I can manage both. However, that left little time for blogging or social life, as I spend most of my free time catching up sleep. The routine's going to continue throughout March, although I'll try to blog as much as I can, especially since I'm itching to write some reviews for books I recently read.

I didn't get that many physical copies, but I got almost double the amount of ebooks, mostly for free through different campaigns and sales, and few review copies.

February's reviews:
The Magpie Lord (4 stars)
A Case of Possession (3 stars)
Estranged (5 stars)
Salute to the Stud (3 stars)
Foreign to You (2 stars)

February's short month and I got pretty distracted by few TV shows, but I'm happy that I managed to read five books. Here we go;

March is going to get busy uni wise: I have to write most of my dissertation by Easter and then there's normal course work. I'll probably read a lot to get my mind of studies, but I also might not have much time to read other than scholarly stuff. We'll see how it goes!

Hugs,
Henna
