Bout of Books 26 Wrap Up

Bout of BooksBout of Books 26 was a week long readathon that finished yesterday. Here's my TBR post post with more information about the readathon and overview of my reading plans.

Overall I read 1,451 pages, which I'm really happy with. I managed to read consistently despite having work or other time consuming things to do every day of the week. I read around two hundred pages per day, which surpasses my usual daily amount of reading.

Here's the numbers for pages I read per day
Day 1; 171 pages
Day 2; 158 pages
Day 3; 228 pages
Day 4; 231 pages
Day 5; 226 pages
Day 6; 212 pages
Day 7; 224 pages

And here's the books I read

I read the following from beginning to end during the readathon: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

I started two books: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (620 pages), Max Kowalski Didn't Mean It (103 pages) and finished The Marked Prince (92 pages).

Bout of Books 26 Read-A-Thon TBR

Bout of BooksBout of Books is one of my favourite readathons to participate; this is my fifth time and I'm happy to be able to participate this time around, too. Rarely I have time to dedicate whole week and this time is no different: I have work on four days, including whole weekend. However, I'll listen audiobook(s) when I commute and I should have plenty of time to read during the evenings - and of course, three full days to dedicate for the readathon!

If you haven't heard about this readathon, here's what it's about:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 19th and runs through Sunday, August 25th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 26 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

As usual, the TBR is mostly a guideline. I have given myself plenty of options but I might read outside of it if the mood strikes me - and I might read one or two of these before next week if I get around them.

As for audiobooks, I recently started listening Harry Potter series. I'll most likely listen The Prisoner of Azkaban or The Goblet of Fire - depending on what I get around this week.

Bout of Books 25 Wrap Up

Bout of Books
Bout of Books 25 was a week long readathon that finished yesterday. Here's my sign up post with more information about the readathon and overview of my reading plans.

Overall I read 1,019 pages, which I'm happy with as first three days I spend mostly writing an essay for uni and I had work on Saturday. I managed to read at least fifty pages every day and surpassed a thousand page mark. I read three books from beginning to end and read parts from three others.

Here's the numbers for pages I read per day
Day 1; 106 pages
Day 2; 50 pages
Day 3; 66 pages
Day 4; 149 pages
Day 5; 213 pages
Day 6; 200 pages
Day 7; 235 pages

And here's the books I read

I read the following from beginning to end during the readathon: The Storm Keeper's Island, Star Collector Vol. 2 and Apology for a Murder.

I started three books: Shane & Trey (51 pages), Top Shelf (93 pages) and The 1,000 Year Old Boy (235 pages).

Bout of Books 25 Read-A-Thon TBR

Bout of Books
Alongside Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon, Bout of Books is my favourite to participate; this is my fourth time and I find it both inspiring and relaxing readathon. Rarely I have time to dedicate whole week, mostly as timing usually clashes with my studies and work - this time's no different. I have last assignment due on Wednesday, so I have less time to read on days leading up to that. I'll get as much reading done as I can, and rest of the week to catch up my goals.

If you haven't heard about this readathon, here's what it's about:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 13th and runs through Sunday, May 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. For all Bout of Books 23 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

My TBR is mostly a guideline of what I'd hope to read and I've included more books than I'm likely to read, just to give myself a lot of options. I might read something outside of it if the mood strikes me.

Dewey's 24 Readathon Wrap Up

Here's the TBR post for the readathon, just if you want to see my TBR, although for once in my life, I followed it to a T! I read all the ones I planned, nothing else. This should be celebrated!

I managed to read a lot more than I expected. I missed first few and last few hours of the readathon, because I had work, and I needed a good nights sleep in order to function properly at work. The books I chose were all fast paced and enjoyable, which is probably the reason why I read so much - it's easy when you fly through the pages!
I read 546 pages; finished one book, two graphic novels and started another book. Not bad, and I read a bit more than my goal was (400 to 500 pages).

To recap, I read 227 pages of Boot, 128 pages of The Battle of the Labyrinth, 112 pages of The Steel Prince and 79 pages of Renegades;

Closing Survey
1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
Usually first and last hour are most daunting for me, but I missed them because of work. So no hour was more daunting than the other for me.

2. Tell us ALLLL the books you read!
*look up*

3. What was your favourite snack?
Ooh coffee! But for food, smoky BBQ crackers.

4. What was your favourite facet of the day?
Not sure?

5. Wanna volunteer for the next event?
If I have time, I'd love to volunteer!

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon TBR

This will be the fifth time that I participate on Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon; it is one of my favourite readathons!

Dewey's site has already some warm up posts up, and there's plenty of information about the readathon. To sum it up, the readathon is pretty chilled and there isn't any challenges that must be completed and not really rules - but plenty of good tips!

The important part is that the readathon will run from Saturday 6th April to Sunday 7th April. The start and end time of the readathon depend on which time zone you live, and you can check yours from the website.
In UK time zone the start is 1pm on Saturday and then it ends 1pm on Sunday.

Besides this TBR post, I'll do a wrap up on Sunday when the readathon is over.

I'll miss both the first and last few hours of reading time, because of work. Despite that, I aim to read as much as I can. For goals, well, I'd like to read both graphic novels on my TBR and read Boot as it's short middle grade novel. I don't expect to finish Renegades, but I want to at least start reading it. I'll be happy if I manage to read somewhere between four hundred to five hundred pages!

I'll try to be active on Twitter during the readathon and post on my reading updates. So if you want to follow those, you're more than welcome to check out my twitter page - and hopefully you'll say hello and join the readathon! :)

#Mythothon Sign Up & TBR

Mythothon is a month long readathon that will run from 1st to the 30th November in everyone's own timezone and it is hosted by Foxes and Fairytales. Head over there to find out more about the readathon and to sign up, if you're planning to join.

Anything goes - books, novellas, graphic novels, audiobooks etc.

To live up the name of the readathon, there are prompts in Ancient Greek style, which everyone can tackle how they want. I'll include both the graphic and the lay down of the prompts before going through my partial TBR. There are few books I'm sure I'll read, and everything else will be decided by my ever changing mood during the month. So I'm not sure which prompts I will do - we'll find it at the end of November!

Prompts

Zeus, King of the Gods, God of the Sky - Read a book at least 400 pages long.

Hera, Queen of the Gods, Goddess of Marriage, Mothers and Families - Read a book about royalty.

Demeter, Goddess of Agriculture - Read a book with a nature world in the title (e.g. leaf, wind, flower)

My partial TBR

I haven't really decided the prompts as I can fit most of the TBR to at least two prompts. However, as soon as I saw Achilles and Patroclus as a prompt, I knew I was going to reread The Song of Achilles and use it for that prompt - how could I not? I've also pre-ordered Stephen Fry's Heroes, which I'll likely read and use for Homer prompt, because that's poetic if anything.

If you're joining the readathon, let me know, I'd love to check out your TBR post!

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon Wrap Up

Here's my TBR post for the readathon, just if you want to see how much I didn't read and how I deviated from the TBR I set for myself.

I knew it was going to be difficult and I wasn't going to get much reading done; I worked first three hours of the readathon on Saturday and the last few hours on Sunday. Naturally I needed proper sleep and I didn't prepare food and snacks, so cooking took time. I also picked up wrong book; S.T.A.G.S. was not a fast paced read. Still, I read 317 pages and finished one book - I surpassed my goal of three hundred pages. Overall, I'm satisfied with how I did.

To recap, I read 290 pages of S.T.A.G.S. and 27 pages of The Way of Shadows;

Closing Survey
1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
No hour was more daunting than another. I think it was because I had work both on Saturday and Sunday so I missed both the beginning and end, which are usually most daunting for me. This time I just read when I had time, be it lunch at work or at home afterwards.

2. Tell us ALLLL the books you read!
Short list this time; I read S.T.A.G.S. from beginning to end and 27 pages from The Way of Shadows, which I was middle of before the readathon.

3. Which books would you recommend to other Read-a-thoners?
Anything fast paced, I usually like middle grade and mysteries/thrillers that keep me turning page after page. Riordan is always a good choice, and recently I devoured The Last Chance Hotel by Nicki Thornton - it would have been a perfect book for a readathon!

4. What's a really rad thing we could do during the next Read-a-thon that would make you happy?
Just keep doing the amazing work you guys do - the readathon twitter and hashtag is always full of encouraging and nice people!

5. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-tho again? Would you be interested in volunteering to help organize and prep?
I'll definitely participate again - I even checked and next one is during my Easter break so university won't be a problem then. If I have time, I'd love to volunteer!

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon TBR

This is the fourth time that I can participate on Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon; it is one of my favourites and I'm happy that this year I've been able to participate both in April and October, as well as the reverse on in July.

Dewey's site has already some warm up posts up, and there's plenty of information about the readathon. To sum it up, the readathon is pretty chilled and there isn't any challenges that must be completed and not really rules - but plenty of good tips!

The important part is that the readathon will run from Saturday 20th October to Sunday 21st October. The start and end time of the readathon depend on which time zone you live, and you can check yours from the website.
In UK time zone the start is 1pm on Saturday and then it ends 1pm on Sunday.

Besides this TBR post, I'll do a wrap up on Sunday when the readathon is over.

This time around Dewey's is going to be a little bit tricky for me: I'm working half day on Saturday, and I'm working on Sunday afternoon so I'll miss both the first and the last few hours of reading time. I'll also need plenty of sleep in order to function properly at work. Still, I aim to read as much as I can and my personal goal is to read three hundred pages - and hopefully finish one book. I'll include a few books in my TBR, just so that I have options when the readathon starts, and just in case that I have time/energy to read more than I anticipated.

I'm not the best one to post updates during readathons but I'll try to be active on Twitter and post on my reading updates. So if you want to follow those, you're more than welcome to check out my twitter page - and hopefully you'll say hello and join the readathon! :)

Bout of Books 23 Wrap Up

Bout of BooksBout of Books 23 was a week long readathon that finished yesterday. My sign up post offers more information about the readathon itself. This one is just to wrap up what I read and how much I read.

Overall I read 1,073 pages, which I'm satisfied with considering that first two days I was travelling with a friend and then sick with cold. I read something every day, but didn't hit a stride until the weekend, which is why I read less than I might have liked. Anyway, I'm happy because I started and finished three books and got in the middle of two others - that's way better than my usual reading week!

Here's the numbers for pages I read per day
Day 1; 41 pages
Day 2; 56 pages
Day 3; 94 pages
Day 4; 150 pages
Day 5; 163 pages
Day 6; 260 pages
Day 7; 310 pages

And here's the books I read

On my Kindle I read To See the Sun and Undue Influence.

I read the following from beginning to end during the readathon: To See the Sun, Undue Influence and City of Ghosts.

I started three books: Pride and Prejudice (90 pages) and Pyrate's Boy (175 pages).
